The Challenge

Welcome to the 90 Day Bible Challenge!

What are your goals in 2018?

  • To manage your time better?
  • To read more?
  • To pick up a new hobby?
  • To grow in your faith?
You can achieve all of these, in just 90 days.

Starting Monday, January 9th, a new post will go up on this blog every. day. For 90 days.

Why??

Together, we will all be going through the Bible--reading a small bit everyday. And we are going to finish the whole thing in 90 days. (Actually it's only 88 days, you get two "Grace Days")
*The break down of the 90 days is at the end, keep reading!*

On this blog, every day, the posts will include:

  • Thoughts
  • Favorite verses
  • Explanations
  • Answers to common questions
  • A comment section for your thoughts and questions that you can all interact with!
Why should we read the Bible?

None of us know everything. We always have questions and don't always have answers. The Bible is quite literally God's words to us. Not only is there loads of practical advice in the Bible (i.e. How can I be a good friend? How can I change? What should I look for in a partner? How can I live without regret?), but there's also answers to the "Big Questions" (i.e. Why do I struggle with sin? How can I get to heaven? Why is there so much evil in the world?).

We can ask God for all the guidance in the world, and He will always provide. But we also need to seek it out in His Word.

How long will this take?

Every day, for 90 days, all you need is to find 35-50 minutes (about 45 minutes per day on average). The best part? Chapters of the Bible are so short you don't even have to read the whole section at once! Find five to ten minutes here and there throughout the day to get the reading done.

What will I need?

Not a whole lot.
Required materials:
  • A Bible*
  • Less than an hour per day (for only 90 days)
    • *--If you do not have a Bible, please download a Bible app or if you do not have internet access, please come speak to me in person.
    • *--If you are looking for a 90 day Bible that tells you exactly where to stop every day, this is the one I'm using.
    • *--If reading isn't your style you can buy an audio Bible or listen to the Bible chapter-by-chapter for FREE here
Recommended materials:
  • Internet access
  • A notebook/journal and pen
  • Highlighters
  • Sticky notes
These are recommended so you can interact with others who are reading the Bible with you and so you can deepen your reading with personal notes, or by highlighting verses you like, or writing notes straight in your Bible on confusing verses or verses that truly speak to you.

Last Few Notes...

  • You may find the first several books of the Bible to be extremely boring. IT GETS BETTER. Trust me.
  • Try to go through with this! Don't leave it for the weekend! And don't let this opportunity to read God's Word fall through.
  • If you are concerned about the amount of time, consider how many minutes you watch of T.V. per day. Consider how long you spend on Facebook. Even if you only spend an hour watching T.V. and thirty minutes on Facebook, if you cut each of those in half, you've found the time no problem! You could also read before school, while waiting for your sporting events, during lunch, or on the ride to or from school.
  • If reading is an issue, consider listening to the Bible! You can either buy an audible Bible through iTunes or Amazon or you can listen to the Bible for FREE chapter by chapter hereJust hit play!
  • Don't be afraid to KEEP GOING! If you are in the middle of something that is speaking to you, but it's the "end point" for the day, keep going!
  • This is not just for B.A.D. Student Ministries. Invite your friends, family, and other youth groups to participate!
  • I am maintaining this blog to continuously encourage you to keep up with your reading. I would never ask you to do something I wouldn't do. We're in this together.
  • I am also extremely busy. I also go to school full time. I also work. I also have things to do around the house. I also have plans with friends. Just like you. But we all need to make God a priority, and remember what is truly left when everything else is stripped away. (HINT: it's God's Love)
  • If you are interested in writing a post (perhaps on a day that includes one of your favorite verses) let me know! I'd love to have students and other youth leaders contribute!
