Day 40: Psalms 25:1-Psalms 45:14 - 90 Day Challenge

Clutching to Psalms in the Midst of Tragedy

Today's post will be brief, but I hope you find it meaningful.

Psalms 37:11 says this:

Meek is a word that was sort of lost in translation. By meek, it doesn't mean timid, it doesn't mean shy. It means those who have knowledge, those who know how to fight--but know when to put their weapons down.

Meek distinguishes those who have a thirst for blood and violence from those who know when to stand up for what is right in this world.

Recently, there has been an unspeakable tragedy. An unfathomable evil that has taken so many innocent lives. This was never God's intention. This was never God's plan for us to live. But society--like we have seen in our past readings--has a tendency to corrupt itself, and we are beginning to see the consequences of our actions.

So I tell you, be meek. Do not incite violence and rage. But stand up for what is right. Stand up for those children and teachers and coaches who lost their lives. Grasp onto the word of God and let it consume you. Distinguish yourself from the evil of the world, as we see David proclaim time and time again.

Psalms 37:39-40

"The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; He delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in Him."

Tomorrow's reading: Psalms 45:15-Psalms 69:21
Have a blessed day.
