Day 49: Isaiah 1:1-Isaiah 13:22 - 90 Day Challenge

A Small Glimpse of Jesus

Isaiah's Vision

In today's reading, Isaiah (remember him from like, 20 days ago?) has a vision from God. In it, he sees the destruction of Israel, how corrupt all of "God's people" have become.

During the vision, God wonders who he should send to deliver  the message to the people of Israel, and Isaiah says, "Here am I. Send me!" Isaiah shows unending faith, and zeal for the Lord's word. It even says in Isaiah 7:9, "If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all."

Later, in Isaiah 7--we get our first glimpse at the prophesy of the Messiah. Isaiah 7:14--" Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel." Immanuel means "God with us." Which is precisely what Christ was, God, embodied, on Earth, with us. After that, in Isaiah 9:6, we hear what a powerful man he will be, with the government on his shoulders; and people will call him the wonderful counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting father, and the prince of peace.

Isaiah 12 is another nice chapter, a break from the prophetic turmoil. It is a song of praise to the Lord.

Isaiah 12:2-- "Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation."

Even amid all the wrong Isaiah is called to fix, he still will continue to sing praise to the Lord, and manages to see all the wonderful things He has provided. That is the sort of faith we should all strive to have.

Have a blessed Sunday!
